Meghan VoeltnerMeghan and I have known each other for about eight years. We met when she was a resource teacher helping to support the New Arrival Center and English learners in San Diego. We have worked together most recently at Crawford High School and it was a joy to work with someone as equally passionate and dedicated as I am. She is someone I greatly respect, and I have appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed knowing her as a friend and colleague.

Teresa WaltersAs former Director of the Office of Language Acquisition, Ms. Walters is well-familiarized with the needs of the ESL community and with my performance within that field. She was my boss for a number of years after hiring me to work in the New Arrival Center at Crawford High School, where I am currently employed.

Dr. Charles PodhorskyDr. Podhorsky was my principal at Hoover High School where I was a teacher in the New Arrival Center. He oversaw this incredibly diverse school and my work with the most recently arrived students who were also beginning English Learners.

Suzanne NicastroI first met Ms. Nicastro when I had her son in my sixth grade class, and then got to know her in an even more professional capacity years later when she became the principal of the middle school I still worked at. She was an inspiration to me and encouraged me to challenge myself in a new way which eventually led to me changing positions and starting work in a new field for me, English as a Second Language, that became my passion in education.
